This talk aims to deepen the understanding of the role of costume design in cinema and show how over the years costumes have helped visualize certain key concepts of modernity such time, transience or gender identity. We will consider fashion as an interactive form of image making and its potential to become visual fiction, the interaction between clothes and settings, the way they can blend to the point where it is difficult to distinguish between set and costume design.
