→Mindru is a director. He started out taking lowbrow photos of Bucharest wasted youth before heading out to Los Angeles to study cinema. He’s shot a number of music videos of varying popularity for international artists, makes commercials for various brands and has created fashion films for a number of up-and-coming designers. What are the main topics that get you jazzed up these days?
My film work is always first. Just looking for the next project and trying to stay relevant is what takes most of my time.
If you were a piece of clothing, what would you be and why?
Some pair of sneakers, probably right now I would be an Air Jordan 1 “Banned in the NBA” OG, mood all year.
What is your interdisciplinary dream project?
The goal is always a feature film, which I have yet to figure out what it’s going to be about.
What are the perks of working in Eastern Europe?
I guess here you get in a comfort zone, you know the people, the locations and you know what you can get out of them. Elsewhere I find it more challenging and intriguing, everything is waiting to be discovered.
Which fashion film do you find intriguing?
Hard to say, there is so much out there. Kenzo’s “What’s the voice of this generation” Director’s cut by Jonas Lindstroem made an impact, but every day Vimeo makes sure I get my fix of new stuff.
